Recent Shooting Victim Charged With Illegal Gun Possession

Ibo Boone was shot twice earlier this month on Ely Avenue.

A Bronx, NY, man shot about two weeks ago in South Norwalk was arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly carrying a gun.

Police said Ibo Boone was taken into custody after a patrol officer turned onto Kossuth St. and spotted Boone talking with another man. The officer reported Boone was holding something, and that when he saw his patrol
car, Boone ran up the driveway of a residence at 3 Kossuth St. and jumped over a fence.

The officer radioed Boone’s location and another officer stopped him on Lexington Ave.

The officers traced back the route Boone had taken from Kossuth St. to Lexington Ave., and reported finding a black bag behind the fence he had jumped over containing a .357 cal. Smith & Wesson revolver.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Cotto said the six-shot revolver had five rounds loaded.

The officers asked a resident of 3 Kossuth St. if the bag and gun were his and he reportedly denied it.

Boone, 25, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and third-degree criminal trespass for being on the resident’s property. He was
released after posting a $100,000 bond and given a court date of March 5.

On Feb. 10, Boone was shot twice after he walked out Coccia’s liquor store at 23 Ely Ave.

Boone is scheduled for a court appearance in Norwalk on Wednesday for his arrest in the city last September on a charge of possessing narcotics with intent to sell.
