Police: Stamford Man Held For Harassing Woman

Norwalk resident says he called her repeatedly and bumped into her car while she was driving.

A Stamford man was arrested Sunday for allegedly harrassing his estranged girlfriend with phone calls and by intentionally bumping his car into the rear of her car as she was driving on Connecticut Avenue.

Edson Casseus, 26, of 335 West Main St., was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree stalking and second degree breach of peace.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Cotto said the 22-year-old woman told the officer investigating her complaint that she only sees Casseus when he comes to her Norwalk home to pay her child support for their 9-month-old child.

The woman said she used to have sex with Edson when he came over, but she refused to do so the last time they met and he became angry, Cotto said. She reportedly said he had been calling her continuously for the past two weeks making disparaging comments.

Sunday afternoon she told police she was driving on Connecticut Avenue earlier in the day when Casseus' car came up behind her and he drove into her rear bumper, Cotto said. She said she turned onto Highland Avenue and he stopped following her.

The officer called Casseus and he allegedly denied being in Norwalk when the bumping incident was said to have occurred. He reportedly said his former girlfriend is angry because he is in a new relationship.

The officer reported listening to a call from Casseus left on the woman's answering machine in which he was angry and made disparaging comments about her. An examination of calls made to her phone showed he had called her dozens of times, Cotto said.

The officer also reported there was damage to the rear bumper of her car.

After being charged, Casseus was held on $2,500 bond and given a court date of May 21.
