Police: Shooting Victim Not Talking To Detectives

Suspect taken into custody still held only on trespass charge.

The 22-year-old city man shot in the back Saturday afternoon on Woodward Avenue is not cooperating with investigators, according to a police spokesman.

Speaking with reporters Sunday morning, Sgt. Carlos Cotto also said the victim sustained a shallow gunshot wound. He said he had heard different reports about whether or not the victim was released from Norwalk Hospital after being treated.

Police are not releasing the victim’s name.

Meantime, a man taken into custody as the possible shooter remains charged only with second-degree criminal trespass.

When officers responded to the 2:14 p.m. report of shots fired, they located the victim inside a liquor store at 50 Woodward Ave.

Witnesses told police the gunman ran into a bodega at 44 Woodward Ave. and gone down to the basement.

Sgt. Sofia Gulino was dispatched to the scene with her dog Arasz. Cotto said Gulino announced to the suspect she was sending Arasz into the basement, at which time he walked out with his hands up.

The suspect, Sean Williams, 19, of 27 Neptune Ave., is being held on $100,000 bond and is expected to be arraigned Monday in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

Saturday night, Det. Sgt. Lee Young said the investigation to determine if there’s probable cause to charge Williams with the shooting continues.

Police said a .38-caliber revolver was located in the area of the shooting.
