Police: Same Man, Same Prescription, Two Names, Two Towns

Walgreens pharmacist says he encountered the same customer using different names in Westport and Norwalk.

A Walgreens pharmacist who works in both its Norwalk and Westport stores recognized a customer who submitted prescriptions to stores in both towns using different names, police said.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday, the pharmacist called Norwalk police from the Walgreens at 55 Westport Ave. to report a customer with a prescription for oxycodone was at the counter, and he filled a prescription for oxycodone for the same man in a Westport Walgreens on Monday, with the customer using a different name.

Stephen McAlinden, 42, was taken into custody in the Norwalk store and charged with attempting to obtained a controlled substance using a false name. He was held in lieu of posting a $5,000 bond and given a court date of April 26.

McAlinden, who was born in 1969, also was arrested on a warrant charging him with first-degree failure to appear in court. State Judicial Department records show a rearrest warrant was issued on Sept. 22, 2011, for a Stephen J. McAlinden Jr. born in 1969 by a judge in state court in Milford. Earlier that month, Milford Police charged McAlinden with possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McAlinden was also held on $5,000 bond for the warrant.
