A city man turned himself in at police headquarters Monday in response to an arrest warrant charging him with two counts assault and risk of injury to a minor.
In an affidavit police prepared to obtain the warrant, they said that on May 26 Divenson Petion arrived at his former girlfriend's apartment at 60 Connecticut Avenue and punched and slashed her new boyfriend he encountered there.
Police said Petion knocked on the door of the apartment and walked in angry when the woman opened the door. They said Petion first punched her new boyfriend, then kicked him and slashed the left side of his face.
He underwent facial surgery at Norwalk Hospital.
The woman got cut on her left arm when she attempted to stop the fight, police said.
Three children were upstairs asleep when the attack occurred. A fourth child, a 2-year-old Petion fathered with the woman, was asleep in the room where the assault occurred, police said.
Petion, 25, of 3 Lovatt St., was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and risk of injury to a minor. He was held on $100,000 bond and was appear in court Tuesday.
