Police: Man Crashes Into Pole; Walks Away

A city man crashed his car into a utility pole on Osbourne Avenue and walked away Tuesday night before police arrested him on a charge that he was driving while intoxicated, according to police reports.
Police gave this account:
A resident of the street called police at 8:11 p.m. to report the crash outside his home. When officers arrived they found an unoccupied car against the pole.

In a search of the area, an officer encountered Fransesco Huerta walking on Osborne Avenue and stopped him. He told the officer he was looking for a tow truck.
Officers smelled alcohol on Huerta and found he had slurred speech. He failed three attempts to pass a field sobriety test.

Huerta, 34, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading responsibility, and failure to drive right.
He was held on $150 bond and assigned a court date of Sept. 15.
Six Generators Missing
Cablevision Wednesday morning reported the theft of six generators. No other information was immediately available from police.
Electronics Taken From Unlocked Car
A resident at 26 Melrose Ave. reported Tuesday morning the theft of a GPS unit and a BlackBerry from an unlocked 2004 Saab.
