A city man was arrested early Tuesday morning for allegedly breaking windows of the control room for the Stanley H. Stroffolino Bridge.
A witness watched the vandalism occur and called police at 1:05 a.m., police said.
The witness told police the perpetrator threw two beer bottles through the windows.
Based on a description provided by the witness, police stopped a man they spotted running west on Washington Street and took him into custody.
Jorge Pablo, 27, of 44 Elmwood Ave., was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace.
Pablo was held on $2,500 bond and given a court date of Nov. 26.
The Stroffolino Bridge carries Rt. 136 over the Norwalk River, and connects East Norwalk to South Norwalk.
It's a draw bridge and the control room is where the bridge attendant controls raising a lowering the center section.
