Police: Intoxicated Man Yells Racial Slurs, Is Trundled off

Police charged a 33-year-old Norwalk man with breach of peace because, they said, he breached the peace Wednesday night with yelling, swearing and racial slurs outside stores at Liberty Square.

Norwalk police gave this account of the incident:

Giovanni Biasetti of James Street was stumbling around, yelling profanities and racial slurs shortly before 9 p.m. at Liberty Square. Several businesses were open and people going in and out of them could hear him.

When a police officer told him to sit down for his own safety, Biasetti swore at the officer and used a racial slur. He then continued swearing and using the racial slur several more times.

Biasetti was taken into custody on a charge of breach of peace and held on a $2,500 bond pending a Sept. 6 hearing in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
