Police: House Sitter Took Car & Cash to a Casino

A resident returning from vacation told police she found the house sitter gone, along with $500 in cash and her car; she got the car back.

A 42-year-old Norwalk woman returning from vacation on May 11 came back to her apartment to find that her car, her house sitter and $500 in cash was missing. Twelve days later, the car was back and the house sitter in jail.

Police said the house sitter, Linda Gee, 45, of West Haven, later told them she had driven the car to the Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, where she gambled away the $500.

After the owner reported the matter to police on May 11, police and the owner arranged to have the OnStar system of her vehicle, a 2008 Pontiac Solstice, reveal its location: at the casino.

Norwalk police applied for an arrest warrant and arrested Gee Monday morning, charging her with sixth-degree larceny in connection with the missing money and second-degree larceny in connection with the missing car. Her bond was set at $25,000.
