Police: Drunken Driver Crashes Into Car at Red Light

Found sitting in his pickup at his residence, engine off but key in the ignition, police said.

Police say a city man was drunk Tuesday afternoon when he crashed his pickup truck into a vehicle waiting at a red light, then backed into the vehicle behind him.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Camp Street and North Avenue at 3:36 p.m. on a report of a multivehicle accident.

The car the pickup truck allegedly ran into was pushed forward into the car in front of it, police said. The owner of the vehicle pushed forward allegedly told police the pickup's driver then backed up and struck the vehicle behind him before speeding off.

The driver of the Ford F150, later identified as Aaron Ornelas, was found sitting in it while parked in the driveway of his residence at 6 North Ave. The officer who located him, Irving Bolling, said the engine was off but a key was in the ignition.

Bolling reported Ornelas had the smell of alcohol on his breath and his eyes were bloodshot.
