At about 12:12 p.m., police received a 911 call that a Hispanic male was carrying what seemed to be electronic equipment as he ran through the rear property of a home on Rocaton Road.

Numerous police officers rushed to the neighborhood to locate the man, and as they went there, police received the report of a burglar alarm activated at a home on Leroy Avenue.

Police arriving at that house found it had been broken into. Soon, police received another call from a Leroy Avenue resident reporting a man running through that resident's property.

Officers found the man, Torrealba, on Mystic Lane and took him into custody after a foot pursuit.

Torrealba had hidden the stolen property in a nearby residence. Zulu, the Darien Police K-9, "was instrumental in recovering the stolen property," according to a police news release.

Wilmer Torrealba, of Taylor Avenue in Norwalk, was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and interfering with an officer.

Torrealba's bail was set at $5,000, which he had not posted as of 5 p.m. He is scheduled to appear April 22 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
