Police: Bar Patron Breaks Pool Stick Over Man's Back

Victim turns and bites his assailant's finger, police said.

Police say a bar patron broke a pool stick over a man’s back Thursday night after instigating an argument with him.

Witnesses reportedly told officers Jose “Tony” Molina had been drinking inside Café El Dorado at 24 Isaac St. for several hours when he started arguing with another customer.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Cotto said the other man turned around and started walking away when Molina allegedly picked up a pool stick and swung it against his back, causing it to snap in half.

Cotto said the man then turned and bit one of Molina’s fingers. Molina was transported to Norwalk Hospital to have his bite wound treated.

Police reports did not indicate the victim required medical attention. Cotto said the officers took the pool stick as evidence.

After being treated, Molina was taken to Police Headquarters and charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace. The man he struck was not charged for biting Molina.

Molina, 34, of 18 Berkley St., was given a court date of Jan. 17. Cotto did not know if he had to post a bond.
