Police Arrest Norwalk Man for Sexual assault on a 9-Year-Old

On Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 8, Norwalk Police Department Special Victims Unit, arrested Carlos Arias-Gutierrez, age 59, of Norwalk for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old child.

The arrest was based upon a complaint received from the parents of the nine-year old child who reported the incident after taking their child to Norwalk Hospital for medical attention on New Year's eve, according to a release from the police.

Detective James O’Leary conducted the investigation, developed probable cause and secured an arrest warrant for Carlos Arias-Gutierrez for one count of Sexual Assault 1st degree and two counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor.

Carlos Arias-Gutierrez was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon while outside his residence at 66 Lexington Ave in Norwalk and transported to police headquarters.

Arias-Gutierrez failed to post the $250,000 court set bond and was transported to Norwalk Superior Court (GA 20) at 17 Belden Avenue Thursday morning for arraignment.
