A motorist was transported to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation following a motor vehicle accident that occurred at about 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, on I-95 north near Exit 14.
According to a press release from the Norwalk Fire Department, the Ford cargo van, which was delivering miscellaneous dry restaurant supplies, struck some yellow safety barrels on the highway that were placed there for a construction zone. After striking the plastic barrels filled with sand, the vehicle then rolled onto its passenger side.
On arrival firefighters found the driver of the vehicle sitting on the side of the road. He was treated by Norwalk Hospital Paramedics and transported to Norwalk Hospital to be evaluated.
Eleven fire personal on scene assisted the paramedics with patient care, and applied absorbent material onto a small spill of anti freeze. The van was righted by a towing company and a contractor replaced the safety barrels closing the highway for approximately 20 minutes.
State police are reportedly investigating the cause of the accident.
