Norwalk Police Taser Unruly Man After Accident

A Norwalk man gets Tasered and arrested after car accident on Wednesday.

Responding to a call about a one-vehicle accident on Wednesday, Norwalk Police had to Taser man after he became belligerent and allegedly kicked at least two officers while they tried to subdue him. Nicholas Evans, 33, of 8 Cliff Street, was arrested and charged with assault on a peace officer and interfering with an officer. Bond was set at $5,000.

According to the Norwalk Police Department, Evans was involved in a single-car accident near the intersection of Soundview and Oak Street where he apparently struck a fence, damaging his car. Upon arrival, a police officer found Evans outside of his car wandering around in the street. The officer attempted to interview Evans about the accident and found him to be incoherent and unresponsive.

The police report stated that Evans would talk, then stop and stare straight ahead. He allegedly refused to obey the commands of the officer to get out of the street. Additional officers arrived on the scene and attempted to get Evans into a police cruiser for his own safety. Evans allegedly started kicking at the officers and was unruly. According to police officials, Evans was Tasered and then taken to Norwalk Hospital where he refused to give any type of samples of bodily fluids. He was then arrested and taken into custody.

Another Norwalk Man Arrested For Assault on Officer

Norwalk Police responded to a call regarding a man on the ground on East Wall Street on Wednesday. Upon arrival, they found Harry Hayes, 32, of 17 Loundsbury Street, to be agitated and unruly.

According to the police report, Hayes was shouting obscenities at the officer. Paramedics arrived on the scene and brought Hayes to Norwalk Hospital to be evaluated. At the hospital, Hayes was allegedly spitting on security officials and another officer. According to the police report, Hayes was allegedly spitting blood, which may have been the result of biting his lip. Hayes was arrested and charged with assault on a peace officer and breach of peace. Bond was set at $10,000
