Norwalk Police Sgt. Honored for Help with Seizure of Weapons, Drugs

Norwalk Police Sgt. Kevin Markert was among various law enforcement agents honored Thursday by the United States Attorney's Office in Connecticut for his work with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.

He was thanked at a ceremony Thursday afternoon in New Haven City Hall, particularly for a case involving the seizure of an assault rifle and drugs. 

"The case involved the arrest of 16 individuals and the seizure of an assault rifle, four kilograms of cocaine, a large quantity of heroin and approximately $150,000 in cash," according to an announcement on the Norwalk Police Facebook page, which continued:

"Ultimately 22 defendants were indicted on federal charges and convicted.

"Excellent job by Sgt. Markert and all the members of the FBI Safe Street's Task Force."
