Norwalk Police Department To Get Thorough Exam

A commission will exam Norwalk's Department of Police on November 28.

Just how buttoned up is the the Norwalk Police Department? Do they follow  protocol in everything they do? They are going to find out at the end of the month.

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc (CALEA) will visit on November 28 to examine all aspects of the Norwalk Department of Police services policies and procedures, management, operations and support services, according to Police Chief Harry Rilling.

Rilling stated that verification by the team Norwalk Department of Police services will come if the department meets the commissions' state of the art standards. It's part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation.

Agency employees and the public can make their comments in an open session on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 7pm in the community room at the police department. If you can't attend the meeting, you can still be heard by calling 203-854-3056 on Nov. 29 between 1pm-4pm.
