Norwalk Police Arrest Woman with Cocaine Following K9 Search

When the Norwalk Police K9 unit arrived on scene, the dog hit on the driver's door after checking the vehicle, police said.

 

A Norwalk Police officer issued a traffic stop on Water Street in Washington Village at about 5 p.m. Monday. While speaking with the driver, the officer noticed the remains of rolled up marijuana cigars in the ashtray of the vehicle, police said.

Inside of a duffle bag, police found a crushed pill capsule, which tested positive for cocaine. The officer also located some other unidentified pills.

Norwalk police charged 28-year-old Shirlaina Gause, of 649 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport, with illegal possession of narcotics near a school, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and failure to keep drugs in original container, according to an arrest report.

Gause was issued a $2,500 bond and is due in court on April 17.
