Two neighbors on Lexington Avenue in Norwalk were arrested on assault charges Saturday in connection with a fight on July 4 that led to one of the men suffering minor injuries.

Roberto Sanchez, 40, of 74 Lexington Ave., suffered cuts to the back of his head and his neck after he was allegedly hit with a Corona beer bottle by Adel Bonilla, 31, of 72 Lexington Ave. Sanchez was treated at the scene by paramedics, according to police.

The two men argued and fought over "old gossip," police said, while the two watching fireworks with a group of other people.

Bonilla claimed he was defending himself from Sanchez, and Sanchez said he was attacked by Bonilla, police said.

Both men were charged with breach of peace, and Sanchez was also charged with assault on a victim 60 years or older, and Bonilla was also charged with second-degree assault. Police did not disclose why Sanchez was charged with assault on someone 60 years or older.

Sanchez was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond and Bonilla was held in lieu of a $25,000. Both were scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court Monday.
