Norwalk Man Survives Gunshot Wound to Head

At about 2 a.m. Wednesday a 20-year-old Norwalk man was brought by his friends to Norwalk Hospital with a gunshot wound to his head, police said.

Doctors performed surgery and removed the bullet from the victim's head, police said. He is expected to survive.

"We are following up on several leads, but this is still very fresh," said Lieutenant Thomas Mattera, commander of the detective bureau.

One of the vehicles involved in the incident was located on Auburn Street. Norwalk detectives continued their investigation on Auburn Street late Wednesday morning.

Detectives conducted a limited interview with the victim, a resident of Norwalk, after doctors operated on his skull, Mattera said.

Mattera said he does not think that the gunshot wound was self inflicted.
