A 34 year-old Norwalk man was sentenced in Bridgeport on Thursday to 41 months of imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release for possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon, according to a statement released by Thomas Carson of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Nicholas Evans was pursued and arrested by Bridgeport police at a residence on Washington Avenue after he discarded a 9mm pistol with an obliterated serial number that was loaded with six rounds of ammunition on August 23, 2012, according to court documents and statements made in court. Evans was previously convicted of narcotics and firearms offenses, and of violating a protective order, according to the release.

Evans has been detained since his arrest and on February 1, 2013, he pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.
