Norwalk Man Arrested for Damaging Parked Cars

A 41-year-old city man was arrested Thursday evening on charges that he hit and damaged numerous parked cars with his vehicle while driving near his home.

According to police, Georgios Nikiforides of 23 Fairview Ave. was driving in his Ford Taurus when he hit a Chevy pick-up truck and a Subaru, which were both parked on Dover Street. The incident was witnessed by the owners of truck, who told police that Nikiforides caused damaged to the left side of their vehicle as well as to the right side of his own car.

Another witness told police that after he damaged the cars on Dover Street, Nikiforides turned onto Prospect Street. The witness also noticed that the suspect's car had extensive damage as well as flat tire. A few minutes later, the witness saw Nikiforides again walking back towards Dover Street. Police said the witness later noticed Nikiforides' car parked in the Jefferson Elementary School parking lot.

When police arrived at Nikiforides' home, the officers noticed that the suspect appeared lethargic and had slurred speech. Nikiforides was arrested and charged with failure to drive right and evading responsibility. His bond was set at $5,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 13.

Nikiforides was previously arrested by Norwalk police on Sept. 4 for by driving behind her car at close distance and ramming her when she stopped at a red light.

Woman Arrested for Shoplifting $91 Worth of Hair Care Products

A 33-year-old woman was arrested Thursday after she was caught shoplifting hair care supplies from a supermarket.

According to police, Alisabeth Rojas of 52 Newtown Ave., Norwalk, was at ShopRite on Connecticut Avenue with her two children when she was caught putting $91 worth of hair care supplies into her purse without paying for them.

Rojas was arrested and charged with sixth-degree larceny and risk of injury to a child. Her bond was set at $5,000 and she is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 14.


Man Arrested for Arguing With Bouncer, Police in Front of Bar

A 21-year-old man was arrested early Friday morning after getting into an argument with a bouncer and police officers in front of a bar.

According to police, James Shaw of 10 Warren St., Norwalk, was attempting to enter Black Bear Saloon on Washington Street when the bouncer denied him access because he appeared to be intoxicated. Shaw argued with the bouncer, but eventually left.

Police said that Shaw returned to the bar and continued to yell and swear at the bouncer. When officers arrived, Shaw began to swear at them in the middle of the road, as well as at his friends, who were trying to convince him to leave the scene.

Shaw was arrested and charged with second-degree breach of peace and refusing to be fingerprinted. His bond is set at $5,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 13.
