Norwalk Man Arrested for Allegedly Choking Ex-Girlfriend

The argument between the victim and suspect started over taxes, according to police.

A 46 year-old Norwalk man was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly got into a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child, according to police.

The victim told officers that she and the suspect started arguing inside of her home over some repair work that he was doing on car as well as some issues with filing tax returns, police said. The suspect told police that the victim pushed and punched him and, in response, he grabbed her arm. Police said that the two then began to struggle and the victim claimed that the suspect put his hands tightly around her neck and tried to wrestle her to the ground.

Police said that the victim was able to get away from the suspect to dial 911 and waited outside until officers arrived. Two children were inside of the home, according to police, but they did not witness the struggle.

Police called an EMS to the home to evaluate both individuals, but neither were treated at a hospital. The suspect was charged with strangulation in the third degree, disorderly conduct and second-degree assault. His bond is set at $10,000.
