Norwalk Firefighters Extinguish Blaze at Meadow Street Home

Norwalk firefighters responded to a fire at 39 Meadow Street at 4:14 am Saturday morning that originated outside the exterior rear corner of the three-story home and melted the vinyl siding from the ground to the eves, according to a statement released by Deputy Chief Edward Prescott. The older cement clapboard siding underneath the vinyl prevented the fire from extending into the home.

The fire was discovered by a neighbor who had just arrived home from work. She heard a popping noise next door went to the window and saw that the neighbor’s house was on fire. Her 911 call brought 24 firefighters to the scene, including Engine 5 which is stationed at 23 Meadow Street

Firefighters cooled the charred vinyl and ventilated the light smoke and odor from the interior as the residents remained inside. Firefighters cleared the scene by 5 a.m. and Fire Inspector Luca Feola remained on scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
