Norwalk Firefighters Battle Early Morning Blaze
A raging fire damages apartments in Norwalk
An early morning fire in Norwalk required the attention of all 32 of the city's firefighters as well as mutual aid from New Canaan, Westport and Rowayton Engines. The fire took several hours to extinguish and there were no reported injuries.
The Norwalk Fire Department received a call at 1:20 am about a structure fire at 105 South Main Street. Upon arrival, fire crews had heavy fire involvement of the entire first floor apartment and fire was extending into the second and third floor apartments. Second and third alarms were struck upon arrival.
The 3-story wood frame home was divided into four apartments and housed 10 tenants, all of which were able to escape the structure safely. Another six of the tenants were displaced from another apartment on the property due to a damaged electrical service line, caused by the fire. Fire crews picked up and cleared the scene by 4:30 am. An investigation of the blaze in on-going.

Michele Deluca, Deputy Director of Emergency Management was on scene to assist the displaced tenants and was able to utilize the Police Departments Community Room (located a block from the fire) while housing arrangements were being coordinated with the Red Cross.
