Norwalk Fire Dept. Responds to Boat Fire after Propane Heater Ignites

The Norwalk Fire Department responded fully involved boat fire at the public boat launch Friday at 12:30p.m.

The boat, a 22’ Center Console Angler, had just been pulled from the water on its trailer when the fire started, according to the Norwalk Fire Dept. The owner told firefighters that he inadvertently left a portable propane heater on and it tipped over as the boat was taken out of the water.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames and had an extra engine lay a supply line from a hydrant across Seaview Avenue to fully extinguish the fire. Traffic on Seaview Ave was diverted around the supply line by Norwalk Police for 20 minutes during the incident.
