Norwalk Fire & Police Marine Division Practice Rescuing Driver from Submerged Car

Nat's Towing service provided a flatbed and tow truck to retrieve the sunken vehicle and the Roton Point Association allowed the use of their boat launch ramp.

The Norwalk Fire and Police Department’s marine divisions recently participated in a joint exercise involving a car into the water, off a boat launch ramp.

The exercise was designed to test the department’s ability to rescue or recover an occupant from a submerged vehicle.

The vehicle, a Ford Explorer, donated by Lajoie’s scrap metal and recycling had its motor and transmission removed to prevent any contaminants from entering the long Island Sound.
