Norwalk Cops: Brooklyn Man Tries to Buy $7,700 in Apple Laptops with Fake Credit Card

A 26-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y. man was arrested on larceny and forgery charges Thursday after he allegedly tried to buy three Apple MacBook Pros with a fake credit card at the Best Buy on Connecticut Avenue, police said.

Store security alerted police after they discovered the attempted transaction by Kenneth Owens, of 1147 East 83rd St.

Police said the total value of the MacBook Pros was $7,657. Owens was apprehended in the parking lot, and officers found another fake credit card in his possession.

In addition to the forgery and criminal attempt at second degree larceny charge, Owens was also charged with illegal use of a credit card and illegally furnishing money, goods or services.

Owens was held in lieu of a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court Friday.
