Next Week's Locations for Police "Click It or Ticket" Checkpoints

Officers hired for seatbelt usage checks are paid for by a state grant.

Norwalk Police will be conducting seatbelt usage checks two days next week as part  of the department's "Click It or Ticket" campaign.

On Monday, Dec. 10, officers will establish a checkpoint  on Main Avenue from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Wednesday, Dec. 12, a checkpoint will be established on Westport Avenue from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The department has not said exactly where the locations will be established.

Officers hired to work at the checkpoints are paid for by a state grant. In order to receive the grant, the department is required to get notice of upcoming checkpoints published in local media.

On its website, the state Dept. of Transportation says drivers and front seat passengers must wear a seatbelt. All rear seat passengers ages 4 to 16 years old also must wear a seatbelt.

Failure to wear a seatbelt can result in a $92 fine.
