New Canaan Man Killed in House Fire [Update]

Former principal Tony Pavia remembered Kevin Johnson, a 2008 graduate of NCHS, as a "unique individual" with an "enormous amount of potential."

Authorities confirm that Kevin Johnson, 20, of New Canaan, was one of three victims of a fire Saturday, Jan. 21, in Poughkeepsie, NY, according to the Stamford Advocate

New Canaan High School graduate Kevin Johnson, 20, has been identified as one of the victims of the deadly house fire that occurred Saturday morning, Jan. 21, according to a report in the Stamford Advocate.

In addition two female Marist College students in their early 20s were killed in the early morning fire off-campus, according to the report. Their names have not yet been released.

Marist College postponed two basketball games as result of the tragedy.

A 2008 graduate was reportedly killed in a house fire in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Saturday morning, Jan. 21.

According to a report in the New Canaan Advertiser, Kevin Johnson, a 2008 graduate of NCHS and a student at Marist College, was killed in the fire.

In a report in the Marist College website, Poughkeepsie Police confirmed that two of three people killed in the fire were Marist students.

Police will not be releasing the victims' names until families have been notified, according to the Advertiser report.
