Norwalk Man's Tinted Car Windows Lead to Multiple Drug Charges

On Thursday, Jan. 9, Robert Castro, 29  of 12 Hillside Pl. in Norwalk, was observed by Norwalk Police near Ben Franklin School in a Black Kia with heavily tinted windows, which are illegal. Police approached the vehicle and could smell the odor of marijuana. When police asked Castro if he had marijuana in the car he began speaking rapidly and his hands shook, according to police.

Castro admitted he had been smoking but said it had been 20 minutes. After police removed Castro and a male passenger from the car, a container with 8 sandwich baggies of marijuana weighing a total of 39 grams and a second container with a sandwich baggie weighing 4 grams, were spotted on the rear car seat, though, according to police Castro said he forgot they were there.

The contents of the baggies tested positive for marijuana and were packaged as as if for sale. Police also recovered a Tylenol bottle containing three small round green pills which were determined to be Oxycodone Hydrochloride.

Castro was charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, sale within the distance of a school, illegal possession near a school, failure to keep drugs in original container and operation while under suspension. He was held on $2,500 bond and given a court date of Jan. 22.
