More Than $24K in Fishing Equipment Reported Stolen

Two burglaries involving fishing equipment were reported in Norwalk Thursday, according to police.

The first was reported at 3:03 p.m. at the South Norwalk Boat Club, located at 17 Mack St. The complainant said he noticed 14 fishing rods, a TV and a GPS missing Thursday, and told police the alleged burglary could have happened up to three days earlier, police said.

The missing items were in total reportedly worth between $23,200 and $25,200. There were no signs of forced entry, according to police.

The second reported burglary was reported at Norwalk Pastime Athletic and Social Club, located at 59 Seaview Ave., at 8:13 p.m., according to the police activity log.

Four Shimano Baitrunner combos, worth $250 each, a Shimano fishing rod, worth $80, three assistant spinning rod and reel set-ups, worth $150 each, two Ugly Stick conventional set-ups, worth $125 each, and two Shimano 4500 Baitrunner inshore rods, worth $250 each, were reported missing, as well as another two fishing kits worth a total of $150, according to police.

All club members have keys to the locker room area, police said.

Police are investigating both burglaries.
