Mayor: Recent Shooting Cases Hard to Stop [Video]

Mayor Moccia says the recent shooting in South Norwalk is another instance between two groups who seem to want to retaliate more than abide by the law.

Mayor Richard A. Moccia said last week's retaliatory shootings between members of different groups in South Norwalk were difficult to stop when victims on each side refuse to cooperate with police.

Moccia said the victims apparently want to take revenge rather than go to police to stop the violence.

On Tuesday morning a man was shot at on the Lowe Street bridge, which connects Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Ely Avenue in South Norwalk.

Police said someone in a car fired several shots at a passenger in a taxi and then sped away. One bullet hit the side of the cab but didn't enter it, police said, leaving the intended target without any injuries.

On Wednesday, one shooting that occurred just after midnight on Glasser Street, resulting in a man being wounded in the right knee.

Police said the victim told detectives he’d been shot whilel walking on Glasser Street with his girlfriend. The man refused to provide further information to investigators, police said.

The victim’s name was not released.
