Man Who Fatally Shot Himself Believed To Be Norwalk Resident

The unidentified man killed himself in front of police in Trumbull Monday night, near the Shelton border.

A distraught, armed man outside in Trumbull's Booth Hill area shot himself despite police efforts to talk him down.

He was transported by Trumbull EMS to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport where he was pronounced dead. He was 27 and originally from Monroe, but believed to be a Norwalk resident, police said.

Trumbull Deputy Police Chief Michael Harry said Norwalk police at 5:40 p.m. requested assistance "in locating a distraught and suicidal male, in possession of at least one weapon, and in the Booth Hill Road area of Trumbull and Shelton."

Officers located the man's vehicle parked at the Nichols firehouse at the corner of Booth Hill Road and MacDonald Road and set up a safety perimeter in the immediate area.

Then a resident in the area reported to police that there was someone in the wooded area behind his home. The clothing description given was similar to that reportedly worn by the victim.
