Man Nabbed Following SUV Burglary On Flax Hill Road
Suspect had items on him reported as being taken from Jeep Cherokee, police said.
A 48-year-old man police described as homeless was arrested Thursday morning for allegedly breaking into an SUV on Flax Hill Road and removing items from it.
A resident of Flax Hill Road called police at 4:27 a.m. to report a man burglarizing cars. A patrol officer spotted a man fitting the description provided by the caller at the railroad bridge on Monroe Street.
Police said the officer stepped out of his car and ordered the man to stop, but he began running. Officers stopped him after a short foot pursuit.

Police said the man, later identified as Jose Crespo, was found to be carrying an iPod, USB charger and ear plugs the complainant said were missing from his Jeep Cherokee. The complainant also identfied Crespo as the man he saw breaking into his vehicle, police said.
Crespo was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, interferring with an officer, possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics near a school. He was held on $7,500 bond and given a court date of May 18.

Police said Crespo fell down when officers used force to stop him and may have broken his nose. He was to Norwalk Hospital for treatment.
