Man Loses SUV During Attempted Drug Buy

A Ridgefield man gave officers two accounts of how he got assaulted and robbed at a South Norwalk public housing project early Wednesday morning, police said.

After walking into Police Headquarters at 2:39 a.m., the man told the desk officer he had gone to Roodner Court, 261 Ely Ave., to pick up his roommate.

He said a group of men pulled him from his Jeep Grand Cherokee, struck him in the face, then stole his cellphone and wallet before driving away in his SUV.

A police report described the 28-year-old man as possibly intoxicated with swelling on his face.

At some point he changed his story, telling police he had actually gone to Roodner Court to purchase cocaine. He said he drove up to a group of men, exited his SUV, and asked them where he could purchase cocaine.

At that point, he said, the men attacked him, took his wallet and cellphone and drove away in his Jeep.
