Norwalk Man Charged for Yelling Obscenities near Kids in New Canaan YMCA Lot

A Norwalk man was charged in an incident in which he was alleged to have been yelling obscenities near youths in the parking lot of the New Canaan YMCA, police said this week.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, 32-year-old Nicholas Chocas, of Midwood Road in Norwalk, was creating a disturbance in the parking lot of the YMCA at 564 South Avenue at approximately 5:28 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2.

A 27-year-old male employee reported Chocas to police after the complainant was escorting children through the parking lot and Chocas began yelling obscenities, Ogrinc said. After being asked to stop and being warned the police would be contacted, Chocas allegedly continued to carry on with the spectacle.

Ogrinc said officers who spoke with Chocas couldn't determine why the man was so enraged. He was charged with disorderly conduct, issued a December 11 court date and taken to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation.
