An assault victim told police Monday night he was struck in the head with a "large metal object."
Officers responded to the South China Restaurant, 44 Woodward Ave, at 8:41 p.m. on a report of a man lying on the sidewalk bleeding from his head. The officers located the victim and reported he had several lacerations on his forehead.
The victim said a fight had broken out across the street from the restaurant involving several men, two of whom assaulted him, including striking him in the head with the object. They then ran away, he said.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital.
