Man Arrested for Trying to Set Fire to Bouton Street Home

Police say that Felix Figodil broke a window to get inside of the home and started a fire at the bottom of a staircase.

 

A man was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly broke into a home on Bouton Street and tried to set it on fire, according to police.

The department received reports from complainants that they heard the sound of glass breaking, according to police, and upon arrival, officers witnessed a Hispanic male climbing over the outdoor banister and walking towards the sidewalk. When officers attempted to question him, they realized that Felix Figodil, age and address unknown, only spoke Spanish and that he appear to be intoxicated, police said.

As they questioned Figodil, the officers heard residents inside of the home yelling that there was a fire, police said. Officers ran inside and observed that a small rug at the bottom of the staircase was on fire, but it did not spread no one was injured, according to police. They also noticed that a double pane window at the front of the home was broken. Police recovered two lighters from Figodil, as well as two partially burnt pieces of paper on the ground in front of the home, police said.

Figodil was arrested for first-degree arson, first-degree criminal trespassing, first-degree criminal mischief and risk of injury to a child. He is being held on a $1 million bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
