Man Arrested for Damaging Property at Norwalk Hospital

A Norwalk man was arrested Monday after he was seen vandalizing a car while leaving Norwalk Hospital, police said.

Initially, an altercation on Quaker Road led to the vandalism suspect being hospitalized, police said. The man was treated at the hospital and released, but while leaving the hospital parking lot the man damaged a vehicle, police said.

According to an arrest report, a valet driver watched the suspect, identified as Darin Stamand, 28, of Norwalk, scratch a Toyota Matrix with a rock and take off running.

When questioned, Stamand told police that he scratched the vehicle after the driver of the Toyota refused to give him a ride home, according to the arrest report.

Police charged Stamand with interfering with an officer and criminal mischief. He was issued a $2,500 bond, police said.
