A city man was arrested early Sunday morning for allegedly vandalizing his former girlfriend’s car.
Police were called to the parking lot in front Club El Dorado, 22 Isaac St., by the 28-year-old woman who said her car’s windshield on the driver’s side was damaged.
Police spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Cotto said the woman told officers she was in the club and encountered her former boyfriend, Jose Espinosa, and they had a hostile exchange of words. She told the officers Espinosa had damaged her car in the past, Cotto said.
The officers then spoke with Espinosa, who told the officers he was just hanging out with friends in the parking lot, Cotto said. When the officer asked him if he knew how the woman’s windshield was damaged, he just smiled, Cotto said, at which point he was taken into custody.
Espinosa, 40, of 328 Ely Ave., was charged with second-degree harassment and third-degree criminal mischief. He was released on a promise to appear in court Monday.
