A city man faces a felony assault charge after allegedly beating his sister with his fists and striking her in the head with a lamp.
Police were dispatched to 16 Soundview Ave. Friday at 3:30 a.m. on a report of a disturbance in progress.
When officers arrived, they were told that a shouting match between the 26-year-old man and his 27-year-old sister escalated into a physical altercation, with him allegedly punching her in the face numerous times.
At some point he allegedly also took a lamp off a table batted her in the head with it.
The officers reported the brother, later identified as Anwar Myers, appeared intoxicated.
The woman was transported by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital for treatment.
Police spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Cotto said officers' report did not indicate what sparked the confrontation.
Myers was taken to Police Headquarters where he was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. He was held on $10,000 bond and was to appear in court Friday for arraignment.
