Man Accused of Assaulting Former Girlfriend

Woman said she became irate when he wanted to talk about their relationship and he "strangled" her outside Norwalk Hospital, police said.

A Stamford man was arrested Wednesday after his former girlfriend reported he assaulted her outside Norwalk Hospital.

According to police spokesman Lt. Praveen John, the woman told police she had ended their relationship last week, but the man agreed to drive her to the hospital for an appointment and pick her up afterward.

John identified the man as 24-year-old Michael Hill.

According to John, the woman told officers that after entering Hill’s car following her appointment Hill said he wanted to talk about their relationship.

She became irate, John said, and allegedly told officers Hill reacted by grabbing her ears and pulling her head toward him.

The woman said she screamed, at which point Hill allegedly “strangled” her to restrain her. She allegedly said Hill then grabbed her and began driving, at which point she attempted to strike him.

The woman eventually was able to open her door and jumped from the vehicle, John said. She entered the hospital’s lobby screaming for help and police were contacted.

John said Norwalk officers contacted Stamford police and requested they go to Hill’s residence at 1 Lawn Ave., B3, and detain him, which they did.

Norwalk officers transported Hill to Police Headquarters, where he was charged with third-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, second-degree unlawful restraint, and second-degree breach of peace.

Hill was held on $5,000 bond and was to be arraigned in court Thursday.
