A 72-year-old Norwalk man groped a woman Wednesday afternoon at a parking lot in South Norwalk, said police, who charged him with sexual assault.
Norwalk police gave this account (an accusation not proven in court) of the incident:
Alcides Hernandez of Chapel Street was sweeping a parking at 133 South Main St. lot shortly before 1:35 p.m. Wednesday when he grabbed the breast of a woman in the parking lot.
The woman told police she pushed him away, and then he spat at her.
When police came to the scene and started to take Hernandez into custody he said he didn't do anything. He initially refused to comply when police started handcuffing him. He then tried to spit at the officers.
Hernandez was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and resisting arrest. He was held on $1,000 bond pending a Sept. 6 appearance in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
