Man, 43, Charged with Assault, Strangulation, Risk of Injury to Minor on Main St.

On Jan 3 Norwalk Police officers were dispatched to 121 Main Street after receiving a call reporting an assault. A Spanish speaking officer translated for the complainant, 31, who did not speak English. The complainant stated that her boyfriend, Miguel Lara of Stamford, came to her home agitated, smelling of alcohol and shouted, "You are a crazy bitch and a prostitute."

According to the police report the complainant said her boyfriend put his hands around her throat and then threw her on a bed and when she got up he punched her on both sides of the face before running out of the home.  According to Norwalk Police photos were taken of the complainant's injuries.

Three children, age 5, 9, and 10 were in the apartment, but not in the same room as the assault when it occurred.

The complainant said her assailant headed toward Global Gas Station and officers spoke to an attendant there, learning the assailant took a taxi to Stamford LaQuinta Suites.

Lara was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Strangulation in the 3rd Degree, Assault and Risk of Injury/Impairing Morals to a Minor. He was held on $10,000 bond and had a court date on Jan. 3.
