iPhone App Helps Norwalk Police Find Suspected Thief

A man accused of stealing the device also gave his home address to the electronics shop where he "resold" the $250 device for $60 on Thursday.

 

An iPhone locating app helped police track down a 22-year-old man accused of stealing the device from a Norwalk gym and then selling it to an electronics outfit.

Shane Dickhart, of 41 Wolfpit Ave., was charged with sixth-degree larceny.

He was arrested by warrant at 2:39 p.m. Thursday after a $250 iPhone was reported stolen from Fitness Edge on Westport Avenue, according to police. An app on the phone helped its owner track it down to GameStop on Connecticut Avenue, where police say they discovered the mobile device had just been sold for $60.

As part of the transaction, Dickhart gave police his home address, where they tracked him down.

A $2,500 bond was set and Dickhart is scheduled to appear March 22 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
