Honduras Murder Suspect In Custody

A Norwalk police Press release today confirms Elim Cerrato is being held on a warrant for a murder in Honduras.

According to a press release from , on December 13, 2011 at 9 A.M Det. Giannattasio received a call from a concerned citizen who had heard that a person was wanted for murder in Honduras.

Police say Det. Giannattasio worked quickly to establish a positive identification of the suspect, his present location and his illegal status in the U.S. He also contacted Immigration Customs Enforcement Agent Christian Manns, according to reports.

At 12:30 P.M on the same day, working with fellow detective bureau personnel as well as special services and patrol, Norwalk Police and I.C.E. took the suspect, Elim Cerrato, age 38, of 39 Meadow Street, Apt. 2, into custody after a brief struggle, according to the press release. Cerrato had been located at on Meadow Street. Cerrato was then turned over to I.C.E, police said.

On February 9, 2012, I.C.E. Agent Manns informed Norwalk police that Cerrato has an active warrant for the murder of his step-son. Police say, this occurred in La Colonia, Dulce Nonbre de Qulmia, Honduras. Norwalk police said Cerrato presently remains in custody of Immigration Customs Enforcement awaiting transfer to Honduras. Agent Manns added Cerrato may also be wanted for futher violent crimes in Honduras.
