Gunpoint Robbery at East Norwalk Convenience Store

A convenience store in East Norwalk was the scene of an armed robbery Wednesday night.

An employee of Speedy Mart, 8 Rogers Sq., told police a man entered the store brandishing a black handgun. He said the robber pushed him behind then counter and grabbed cash out of the register.

A customer who had been in the store ran outside when he saw the man go behind the counter and called 911 at 7:01 p.m.

The robber ran out of the store and fled on foot. Police searched the area and used a police dog in an unsuccessful attempt to locate the perpetrator.

The man was described as a black male wearing a gray hoodie and jeans.
