Fire Contained To Home's Two-Car Garage
Flames crept up exterior walls, threatening entire structure.
Firefighters extinguished a fire in a two-car garage Tuesday evening before it could destroy a home on Baybourne Drive in East Norwalk.
The alarm came in at 7:34 p.m., and arriving fire companies found flames consuming the garage's interior and extending up two exterior walls toward the home's second floor, Deputy Chief Gino Gatto said in a news release.
The first arriving engine company quickly stretched a hose line and began knocking down the flames, Gatto said.

He said the home was searched and found to be unoccupied.
Firefighters had to deal with extensive overhaul after the blaze, Gatto said, including having a work van, lawn tractor and leaf blower pulled out of the garage, all of which were "completely consumed" by the fire.

Gatto said 26 firefighters were at the scene and there were no injuries.
The fire is being investigated by Inspector Luca Feola of the Fire Marshal’s office.
