A Monroe resident who died of injuries he received while allegedly trying to escape a police raid of an illegal Norwalk casino was buried Sunday.
Gene Blitzer, 53, died of multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Farmington.
Police said Blitzer jumped out of a third-floor window and fell about 35 feet after officers burst into Casino Royale at 94 East Ave. last Wednesday night.

He was flown to Yale-New Haven Hospital in critical condition and died on Thursday.
Blitzer was the finance director at St. Luke’s Parish in Darien. An employee there said Blitzer worked for the parish for four or five years.

Blizter is survived by his wife, Gail Schechtman Blizter, a son, Jeremy, who lives in Massachusetts, and a brother, Josh.
Police said Blitzer was one of 23 patrons in the casino. He would not have faced arrest since only the establishment’s six employees were charged.
Blitzer was buried at the Farband L.Z.A. Cemetery in New Haven.
